Privacy Policy

1. Introduction.
This Privacy Policy explains how Copper Screen Pty Ltd (ABN 71 669 195 457), trading as Local Champion (“we”, “us”, “our”), collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information in connection with the Local Champion platform, including localchampion.co, app.localchampion.co, and related services (the “Services”).

This Policy forms part of, and should be read together with, our Terms and Conditions. We are committed to handling personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

By using the Services, you acknowledge that we will collect, use, and disclose your personal information as described in this Policy.

2. Who This Policy Applies To.
This Policy applies to:

  • Customers — franchisors, individual franchisees, independent business owners, and digital agencies who subscribe to the Services;
  • Authorised Users — individuals issued an Account by a Customer, including franchisee staff, location managers, and agency representatives; and
  • Visitors — people who browse localchampion.co without creating an Account.

Where a franchisor, agency, or other principal Customer manages locations on behalf of others, that Customer is responsible for ensuring it has a lawful basis to provide personal information about its franchisees, staff, or end-customers (e.g. reviewer names) to us.

3. Information We Collect.

3.1 Information you provide directly.

  • Account and registration details (name, email, business name, role, phone number)
  • Billing and payment details (processed by our payment provider — we do not store full card numbers)
  • Communications you send us (e.g. emails)

3.2 Information collected through the Services (“Client Data”).

  • Google Business Profile data (business details, categories, posts, photos)
  • Customer review content, ratings, and reviewer names, as made available through connected Google accounts
  • Competitor and local market data relevant to your locations
  • Content calendars, drafted posts, and AI-generated content created within the Platform
  • Google Ads account identifiers and campaign structures (where the Ads Agent is enabled) — we do not collect or store your Google Ads payment details, as ad spend is billed directly by Google to your own account

3.3 Information collected automatically.

  • Usage data (pages visited, features used, login times, device and browser information)
  • Cookies and similar technologies on our website (see Section 9)

3.4 Information from third parties. We receive information through Third-Party Services connected to your Account, including the Google Business Profile API, Google Places API, and Google Ads API, as authorised by you.

4. How We Use Personal Information.
We use personal information to:

  • provide, operate, and maintain the Services, including the GBP, Competitor, Content, Review, Local Events, and Ads agents;
  • generate AI-assisted content, suggested review responses, and campaign structures using the Anthropic API (see Section 6);
  • communicate with you about your Account, billing, and material changes to the Services;
  • monitor, analyse, and improve the Platform, including through de-identified, aggregated analytics;
  • detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, security incidents, or breaches of our Terms; and
  • comply with our legal obligations.

We do not use personal information to make AI-generated content or campaign decisions without the human review and approval steps described in our Terms and Conditions.

5. Sharing of Information.
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose personal information to:

  • Sub-processors and infrastructure providers who help us deliver the Services, currently including:
    • Google Cloud Platform — application hosting and infrastructure
    • Supabase — authentication and database storage
    • Lovable — application development and hosting infrastructure
    • Anthropic — AI model provider, used to generate drafted content, review responses, and campaign suggestions
    • Google APIs (Business Profile, Places, Ads) — used, with your authorisation, to read and manage your connected accounts
  • Professional advisers (e.g. lawyers, accountants) where reasonably necessary;
  • Regulators or authorities where required by law; and
  • A purchaser or successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of business assets.

Each sub-processor is only provided the information necessary to perform its function and is subject to its own terms of service and security obligations.

6. AI Processing of Your Information.
Where the Platform generates AI-assisted content (e.g. social posts, review responses, ad copy), relevant Client Data is sent to our AI model provider (Anthropic) for processing. This processing is used solely to generate the requested output for your Account and is governed by our agreement with that provider. AI-generated content should be reviewed by you before use, as described in our Terms and Conditions.

7. International Data Transfers.
Some of our sub-processors (including Google Cloud Platform, Supabase, Lovable, and Anthropic) may store or process personal information on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States. Where personal information is disclosed overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure recipients handle it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, including through contractual protections with our sub-processors. By using the Services, you consent to this disclosure.

8. Data Retention.

8.1 We retain personal information and Client Data for as long as your subscription is active, to provide the Services.

8.2 Following termination of your subscription, we retain Client Data for twelve (12) months, consistent with our Terms and Conditions, to allow for reactivation, dispute resolution, or regulatory purposes — unless you request earlier deletion in writing, in which case we will delete or de-identify your Client Data within a reasonable period, subject to information we are legally required to retain.

8.3 We may retain de-identified, aggregated data derived from Client Data beyond this period for benchmarking and product improvement, where it no longer identifies you or any individual.

9. Cookies and Tracking.
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember preferences, and understand how visitors use localchampion.co. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies may affect site functionality.

10. Data Security.
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or disclosure, including relying on the security measures of our infrastructure providers (Google Cloud Platform, Supabase, Lovable). No system can be guaranteed completely secure, and we cannot warrant the security of information transmitted to us.

If we become aware of a data breach likely to result in serious harm, we will comply with our notification obligations under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

11. No Customer Support Function.
As noted in our Terms and Conditions, we do not provide a dedicated customer support function. Privacy-related requests (access, correction, deletion, or complaints) should be sent to the contact details in Section 14, and we will respond within a reasonable period.

12. Your Rights.
Subject to the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), you may:

  • request access to the personal information we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate or out-of-date information;
  • request deletion of your personal information, subject to Section 8 and any legal retention obligations; and
  • lodge a complaint about how we have handled your personal information.

If you are not satisfied with our response to a privacy complaint, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

13. Changes to This Policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes (e.g. by email or in-app notice). Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
